Winter Update 2021: The last release of the year brings a powerful digitizing feature and preview of field payments

The latest update of the year includes important enhancements that simplify user workflows, bring advanced field functionality, and further extend the capabilities of management tools.
The highlights of Winter Update include the Scan and Extract feature, a preview of Pay with Resco, Functional Locations, revamped Schedule Board, Guide feedback collecting, or multiple advancements in integrations.
Resco for Dynamics 365 CE
New way how to transform paper forms to digital questionnaires
With the Winter Update, users get a powerful new option for digitizing their documents with the Inspections solution. The newly introduced functionality speeds up the transformation of paper questionnaires to digital forms.
The Scan and Extract feature automatically recognizes the imported document’s questions and transforms them into a Resco questionnaire. Removing the need to rewrite questions shortens the go-live time of actual field usage.
Preview of field payments
Another new feature – Pay with Resco – simplifies payments processing for customers and field techs which can significantly improve the cash flow of organizations.
The feature enables technicians to create an invoice directly on a mobile device with the Resco app and get paid by the customer right on the spot.
While still in preview, partners and customers interested in the functionality can already ask for a demo by contacting the Business Development Managers.
A faster way to find assets on-site
Functional locations is a new capability now available in resco.FieldService that helps users optimize the time spent searching assets in the field.
Dispatchers can equip field technicians with more precise asset location data, so they can find it with no delays.
It is possible to add details like building address, floor, office number or even visual information (e.g., floor plan) to Functional Locations.
Better user experience with revamped Schedule Board
Managers and dispatchers using Schedule board in resco.FieldService have multiple enhancements at their disposal:
- Simplified UI allows to navigate through Schedule Board more intuitively
- From now on, it is possible to initiate Schedule Board directly from the work order form, saving multiple steps in dispatchers’ workflow
- It is possible to set working hours to individual resources allowing for more precise planning
High-quality work instructions
The winter update for resco.Houston helps organizations to bring their work instructions to the next level. Guide feedback collecting allows mobile users to leave feedback and rating on a specific work guide.
Insights from the field make it easy for organizations to keep high-quality training content and identify bottlenecks to continuously improve operations.
Better control over images
This Winter Update also brought another new feature granting guide editors more control over displaying images.
The possibility to choose for the images within a step, cover, or thumbnail to either fill or fit the screen enhances image quality and user experience.
Another advancement in integrations
resco.ServicePlatform integrations available via REST API, OData API or Resco Cloud connector for Power Automate, now get new advanced options. Here are the most important ones:
- Resco Cloud Integration with Business Central
- It is possible to synchronize records in both directions, upload only, or download only
- The new configuration option allows for a separate sync filter for download and upload
- Resco Cloud connector for Power Automate
- New options for work with questionnaires
- It is possible to generate reports as in the mobile app
Overview of assets and records simplified
A couple of enhancements is also available in tree views providing new options for editing. From now on, tree views can be added as a tab on forms. The second improvement enables the creation of new records directly from tree views. A simple click on the ‘+’ icon available in each line will do the work.
