Bratislava, Slovakia – December 12, 2018 – Resco, the leading provider of mobile solutions for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce, has just released the 2018 Winter Update of its Mobile Business Apps Platform.
After 10 years of relentless development Resco has outgrown the definition of just a mobile client. With expanding capabilities, Resco’s mobile app (Resco Mobile CRM) and the Woodford configurator have become a comprehensive mobile application development platform.
“Our goal is to enable customers and partners to build business apps, whether connected to CRM or not. And to provide tools that cover the whole lifecycle of a mobile solution. From mobile projects, team collaboration, to app release and analytics tools for better insight on their mobile solution,” Miro Pomsar, CTO at Resco, highlighted.
The platform is based on the Resco’s mobile app and the Woodford configurator, which are the essential parts of all past and existing mobile projects. However, it extends even beyond CRM scenarios.
At the same time, Resco continues to provide a fully customizable mobile client for Microsoft Dynamics 365, Salesforce and other enterprise systems as well. And updates on new ready-to-use solutions in the product offering, Resco Inspections and Resco Route Planner, are also coming soon.
What’s new in the Resco Mobile Business Apps Platform Winter Update 2018?
Woodford configuration tool
New HTML-based Woodford – as Microsoft no longer offers updates for Silverlight and will stop providing overall support for the framework in 2021, Resco believes HTML will enable to further improve the Woodford user experience going forward; a new HTML-based version of the Woodford configurator is now available for Dynamics 365/CRM and a version compatible with Salesforce will be ready in the upcoming weeks; customers and partners can also continue to utilize the Silverlight-based Woodford for now, as Resco will be providing full support for this version until December 31, 2019
Mobile report editor – the mobile report editor has been also redesigned in HTML for more convenient user experience; it now enables faster adding/removing of columns, rows, attachments, streamlined definition of styles and more
Sync Dashboard – system administrators gain more insight now access detailed synchronization information, displayed as charts within a clear-cut, dedicated dashboard; it provides an overview about when and how often are mobile users synchronizing, what devices are they using, whether there are any errors and how long does the synchronization take; to utilize the Sync Dashboard, admins first need to activate synchronization audit in Woodford
Resco mobile app
Custom Fonts – admins can now upload custom font libraries into Woodford and
set up the app to use these new fonts in fields across list views and forms (via Edit Styles)
Field-level permissions – mirroring of Dynamics 365 field permissions settings; e.g. if certain fields are read-only in Dynamics 365, they will be automatically read-only in the Resco Mobile CRM app when Field level permissions setting is enabled
Non-blocking attachment sync – even when users run foreground synchronization in the Resco mobile client, files and attachments can now be synced in the background; this can significantly reduce the time during which users cannot work with the app due to foreground synchronization
Support for Box.com – Box helps organizations to bring scattered files and documents under one roof; it provides a single place to manage, secure, share and govern the content for company’s internal and external collaboration and processes; now it can be integrated with Resco mobile client, or other applications created on Resco’ Mobile Business Apps Platform
Azure Blob Storage for Dynamics 365 – to better utilize available resources, Resco’s mobile client now supports Microsoft’s Dynamics 365 plugin that enables to store record annotations (images, audio, video, or other multimedia objects) on Azure instead of Dynamics 365; mobile users can now also store these files on Azure instead of Dynamics
Signature fields directly from PDF – the app recognizes available DocuSign signature fields directly in PDFs, so users immediately know where signatures are required
Smart Favorites labels – originally Favorites were stored only locally on the device; now they are also synchronized to the CRM server; so when a record’s label changes it is updated on both sides to avoid creating a duplicate of the record from Favorites under a similar name (e.g. Resco vs. Resco Inc.); Quick delete button is now available on Favorites items as well
Salesforce integration
Sales, field service and inspection templates – Salesforce users are now able to work with an out-of-the-box Resco app with a pre-defined set of standard objects; there is an option to select from mobile projects when creating a new project in Woodford; each project is for a case-specific scenario and can be further configured
Manual metadata update via Woodford no longer required – new Salesforce users can use the Resco app without Woodford metadata update; all changes made within their Salesforce organization are automatically updated in the app as well, saving time to system admins
JavaScript Bridge
iOS, Android version JavaScript debugging for better performance
Calendar long-press – fully configurable long-press JavaScript command added to the calendar.
Show passive (non-blocking) notification window in JavaScript
Start drafting an SMS message from JavaScript
Select multiple photos from JavaScript
Promise based Save and Fetch methods
