Resco Mobile CRM & Dynamics CRM Upgrade - Resco Mobile CRM
Resco Mobile CRM & Dynamics CRM Upgrade

Updating to higher version of Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Before an upgrade

Before you upgrade your Microsoft Dynamics CRM, we advise you to back up your Mobile Projects. To do so, run Woodford and export each mobile project as displayed:

001

This is mainly a measure of precaution, but we recommend you do it ˈjust in caseˈ.

Now you can go ahead and upgrade the Dynamics CRM environment as planned.

Upgrade to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2015 & 2016

If you opt for an automatic update of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013 Online, all Resco entities (entities that start with resco_) should stay unharmed. There are no other steps you would need to perform. After a successful update, you should be able to run Woodford the same way as you were used to and all of your mobile projects should be intact.

If you are migrating from Dynamics CRM 2011/2013 to 2015 or 2016, make sure the Woodford solution is migrated as well. In case it is not, you’ll need to import/download Woodford again after the upgrade (so that Resco entities will be created on the server). If you changed any Security policies, organization level Localizations, Plugins or Maintenance, you would need to perform all changes again.

Be sure to use the Woodford version corresponding with the new version of your CRM server.

002

Import your Mobile Projects afterward and you are done.

Note: If you were using an older version of Woodford (7.4 and older); you’ll still need to import/download Woodford even if Resco entities were migrated correctly during the upgrade. This is because Dynamics CRM 2015 and 2016 require the presence of newer solution version that the previous versions of Woodford did not have.

Migrating to Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013

Migrating to Dynamics CRM 2013 should go smoothly and automatically when it comes to Resco Mobile CRM.

After a successful upgrade, you should be able to run Woodford the same way as you were used to and all of your mobile projects should be intact. This means there should be no special steps you would need to perform.

Note: If you were using an older version of Woodford (7.4 and older); you’ll still need to import/download Woodford even if Resco entities were migrated correctly during the upgrade. This is because Dynamics CRM 2015 & 2016 require the presence of newer solution version that the previous versions of Woodford did not have.

Issue Resolution

If Mobile Projects don’t seem to be working, please follow these few simple steps:

First, check if Woodford solution is still available on the CRM organization. Go to “Solutions” in your CRM organization’s Settings section and check its version number.

003

If you cannot see any Woodford solution in the CRM environment, you need to run Woodford as a standalone application and connect it to your CRM environment (or import a solution file and run Woodford from the CRM environment). You can download both from here.

If you changed any Security policies, organization level Localizations, Plugins or Maintenance, you will need to perform all changes again.

Second, start Woodford. If you can see your mobile projects, you are ready to use them again. If not, you need to import and publish them again.

004

Exception for the standalone version: In this case you need to use the standalone version of Woodford (you run it on your PC as an application); you may need to input a new URL of the organization (if this has changed after the upgrade).
