Data Images: Setup in Woodford configurator

There are two ways on how to integrate images into the mobile CRM app:

  • as Data images (for any CRM version)
  • as Entity images (for Dynamics CRM 2013)

This short video shows how image integration looks like in the mobile app:

Prerequisites

In your Dynamics CRM, upload and attach images to your records (for any entity) in the Note’s section as attachments.
Or upload images directly via the mobile CRM app, just create a Note and attach/capture the picture as an attachment.
The Default Setup: Images have to have a specific subject name: “ListImage” (as for the image on the List view) and “FormImage” (as for the image to be shown on the Form).

Pictures on a View – Woodford Setup

Step 1: Sign into Woodford with your CRM login credentials and open your mobile project.
Step 2: Add the ListNoteImage in the View
Choose an Entity from the menu -> go into the Views section -> choose a view (e.g. a Public View for entity Accounts) -> click on Add Image option from the top menu -> select ListNoteImage (this will add a picture item onto the view editor)

Step 3: Adjust the size of other fields; otherwise they will be covered by the picture.
For Custom Setup: You can define a different subject name (new style in Woodford), for instance that List image and Form image will be the same image with the subject name “Image”.
Click on Edit Styles button, then on the ListNoteImage. To change the Subject name of the Note, click on ImageQuery field.

By changing the Subject field you will set the name of the Note, from where the picture will be taken. If you have a different associated entity that will be used for view of form images, you can change it in Image Data.

You can also create more ListNoteImage styles to use different notes for different Views.
If you have more ListNoteImage styles, make sure you set the correct one for the img item.

Step 4: Save these changes, publish the mobile project and synchronize the Mobile CRM application.

Pictures on a Form – Woodford Setup

You can add a picture to an Edit Form in a similar way as on a View:
Step 1: Sign into Woodford with your CRM login credentials and open your mobile project.
Step 2: Add the FormNoteImage in the Edit Form
Choose an Entity from the menu and go into the Forms section (e.g. for entity Accounts) -> click on Edit Form -> click on Add Image option from the top menu -> select FormNoteImage.

Step 3: Edit the FormNoteImage item
You can rename the field by using the Binding field on the left side (e.g. to Account’s Venue). After changing the name, click on the field item again to confirm the change.
Custom Setup:
By default, the Note, where the Edit Form picture should be attached, needs to have a subject name exactly “FormImage”. This can be changed In the Style Manager. Click on Edit Styles button, then on the FormNoteImage. To change the Subject name of the Note, click on ImageQuery field.

By changing the Subject field you will set the name of the Note, from where the picture will be taken. If you have a different associated entity that will be used for view of form images, you can change it in Image Data.

You can also create more FormNoteImage styles, and use different notes for different entities.
If you have more FormNoteImage styles, make sure you set the correct style for the image1 (or the renamed) item.
To make it look like in the second photo in this blog (center the picture without a title next to it), set the LabelPosition to Hidden and HorizontalAlignment to Center.
Step 4: Publish the project and sync your mobile CRM app.

Entity Images (applicable for MS Dynamics CRM 2013)

Prerequisites

In CRM 2013, there is a specific picture field, where you can store images of Accounts, Contacts, Leads, etc. (max. 140×140 pixels). If you use this kind of picture field, you can use it also on Mobile CRM application.

Woodford Setup

Step 1: Make sure the Entity Image is enabled for synchronization.
Sign into Woodford with your CRM login credentials and open your mobile project. Go into the Contacts entity for example -> Fields -> find the field called Entity Image -> enable this field -> click Save

Step 2: Now we can go ahead to the View and add a picture to it.
To do so, go into Views (for the Contacts entity for example) -> open a View -> click on Add Image button from the top menu -> select ListEntityImage (this adds an image cell onto the list template) -> adjust the size of other fields, so they don’t overlap

To preserve the default functionality, we do not recommend editing the ListEntityImage style.
Step 3: Save the changes and publish the customization (or proceed to setting up Edit Form entity image).
Step 4: Add Entity Image also on the Form.
Go into a Form -> click on Edit Form (Image will be added to Contact Information form automatically.) -> click Add Image -> select FormEntityImage field and place it on the form -> click Save & Close

Step 5: You can notice a new item, image1 on the Form. You can rename it to e.g. Contact’s Picture by using the Binding field on the left side. After changing the name, click on the field item again to confirm the change.
Also, you use the Edit Styles button from the top menu to delete the label or align it differently.

Step 6: Save the changes, publish the project and sync your mobile CRM app.
