6 easy steps to leverage Resco Inspections in Salesforce for your field service operations

Field service processes can be quite complex. From scheduling service appointments and filling out work order forms, to collecting data, taking photos in the field, and then uploading them to a CRM system. It involves many steps that need to be carefully considered and executed. That’s why even a minor mistake can cost a lot.
However, you can significantly reduce the number of errors, while also speeding up and streamlining the entire process by choosing Resco as your field service mobile platform. By doing so, Salesforce users can leverage all the benefits of Resco Inspections. In this blog post, we’ll show you how.
Perform even the most complex field operations with ease
Resco Inspections is a flexible, fully customizable mobile solution that allows you to work with your Salesforce data 100% offline. It’s equipped with the latest technologies, such as AR, AI image recognition, and voice control, and can be used on any device – be it phones, tablets, or wearables. One of its main components is the Questionnaire Designer, which allows managers to build dynamic questionnaires.
Let’s assume that I’m a Resco Partner who has just implemented Resco technology to help with my field service operations. When visiting clients, my field technicians often encounter situations in which they have to fill out questionnaires, even when there’s no stable internet connection. They can speed up all stages of the inspection process and increase their productivity by utilizing Resco Inspections on top of their Salesforce solution. They can take advantage of Inspections’ offline capabilities and easily associate questionnaires with a specific record, such as Work Order or Service Appointment.
Execute the entire field service process, including inspections, with one app
Relating a template from Resco Inspections with a key object in Salesforce like Service Appointment is not rocket science. There’s no need to switch between different apps, you can do the whole process in the same Resco app. Let’s go through the step-by-step guide on how to do it:
You need to have a Field Service license from Salesforce and install the Resco managed package from AppExchange. Note that you can always find up-to-date instructions on how to set up inspections on your organization in this section of Resco Wiki.
Step 1: Go to salesforce.resco.net, sign in with your username, and open Woodford.
Note: Please make sure to update metadata after installing the package to ensure that all inspections functionality works properly.
Step 2: Select the App Project.
Step 3: Click on Inspections, where you can enable the objects. Hit save.
Step 4: Add to Form and choose an object. (Note: in Woodford, we refer to objects as “entities”).
Step 5: Click on Install Report, which will enable you to create reports from any questionnaire in the app.
Step 6: The Inspections tab appears on the entity.
Note: You have to assign Permission Sets to all non-administrator users who will use Inspections. Assign the Resco Inspections User permission to allow users to fill out questionnaires in the mobile app. If you want to enable users to create questionnaires in the Questionnaire Designer, assign them the Resco Inspections Designer permission as well.
And that’s it, now this Resco Inspections template is available as part of a Service Appointment in the Resco app.
The Resco Inspections app for Salesforce comes with sample questionnaire templates. Just open the Resco Inspections app on Salesforce and use the Questionnaire Designer to quickly add one of the many ready-to-use templates to your app. For the full list of these templates, check out this blog post.
Note: You have to Publish a template before it appears in the app.
As you can see, Resco Inspections works seamlessly with any object in Salesforce, no matter the use case (field service, sales, etc). You only have to use Woodford (Resco’s customization tool) in the very beginning to install the app project. After that, you can create dynamic questionnaires directly in your Salesforce organization. The Questionnaire Designer is suited for business users, so having advanced technical skills is not a necessity.
