Version 4.20.1
Sep-16-2004
- Lower memory usage for black&white images (e.g. faxes)
B&W images are now loaded in original color depth to use minimum memory. Now you can view and rotate large fax images.
- Multi-image files
From this version, you can view all images stored in multi-image formats (e.g. MBM or TIFF).
Use left/right arrows to swap the pages within a multi-page image.
- Delete thumbnails menu command
If you are low on storage space, use this command to delete stored thumbnails.
You will be asked to delete the thumbnails when uninstalling the application, too.
Or you can run rtnscleaner.exe to delete all thumbnails. But be careful: This will also delete image saved color corrections and rotation.
rtnscleaner.exe can be found in the folder where the application is installed. (E.g. c:\system\apps\rescoviewer\ if application is installed in phone memory).
- New setting Store rotation
Use this feature to store the image rotation permanently.
Beware: The rotation is stored as a special flag (together with the thumbnail) - the original image remains intact.
- Zoom mode indicator
Switch to the zoom mode is visually indicated by a special icon in the top right corner. (The icon will disappear after the user performs some actions.)
- Improved navigation
Image location info included in the browser.
- Crop
Cropping enables creation of the small image cutouts.
It is useful e.g. when you need to send a smaller image via MMS.
Cropping works on any images: jpeg, gif, tif, bmp etc.
The output format is always jpeg.
The output quality is equivalent to the quality of the loaded image. (Cropping from the zoom mode yields a better quality - at least for large images.)
The output is saved with the eventual color adjustments made. (Finally "real" image editing.)
Crop to rectangle
Specify 2 corners of the rectangle to be cropped. Then specify the output image name and jpeg quality (10=worst, 100=best).
Crop to size
Specify the image dimensions using a setup dialog. Then move the fixed-size rectangle on the screen. The rest as above.
Version 4.10.2
Apr-19-2004
Bug corrections
- Set as Wallpaper on Series 60 v2.x (Nokia 6600, etc.) - fixed
Version 4.10.1
Mar-19-2004
- Improved BMP loader
Unlike the original BMP loader provided by the Symbian OS, Resco Viewer supports now also OS2 and RLE-compressed bitmaps
- Faster JPEG loading
Color conversions optimized for speed
- JPEG and JPE extensions accepted
Originally only the files with ".jpg" extension were accepted
- Image sorting
Application settings allow to select sorting by name, by date, by the image size, or by the image format (jpeg, gif, bmp etc.)
- Improved scrolling
These new options were added to the viewer settings:
- Optional wrap scrolling controlled by the viewer settings
- PageUp, PageDown commands
- Set as wallpaper
New command allowing to select any image as the phone wallpaper
- Setup-able standard folders
In the basic (hide folders) mode the viewer does not show all images (it would take too long), but scans only so-called standard folders.
Previous viewer version used these standard folders:
- V4.10 allows to specify custom folders using new commands:
- Add to Std Folders
- Del from Std Folders
These commands are available in the expert mode only.
The icons of the standard folders are visually modified to remind their status.
- Setup-able startup folder
New functions for the expert mode:
- The user can use 'Set as default folder' for any folder.
- Additionally, viewer settings allow specifying whether the viewer should start on the default folder or in the last folder visited.
- Support for Siemens SX1 keypad
