Download Resco Explorer v2.60.6 beta
Launcher functionality added:
Besides that a few bugs removed, incl. the image copy problem reported on the forum today. (Concerned card images formatted as DB streams.)
DTG:
We spent on the interface more than 1 day, but finally gave up.
The implementation was partially working, but there remained several caveats.
If DTG improves the interface, we shall resume this work.
Optimizations in the Documents and Icon cache, bug removal.
DTG:Waiting for additional details. If they arrive tomorrow, we'll implement it right away.
Otherwise v2.60 will be launched with old DTG interface and the new interface will be added as a patch.
Some small improvements for Documents
A lot of optimization.
We just received the description of the call interface for DTG, so this will be added as well. (The current interface enables only reading of small or medium-size documents.)
This is already very close to the final release.
Document queries do work:
Use context menu Info option to define the query and Refresh option to realize the query.
Old document links will be discarded, because the underlying DB uses different format.
The Refresh does the following:
Note:
If you swap the card for another card with different label, then the card gets different drive letter.
Items from the original card are not considered as not existing and are thus not removed during Refresh.
MobiSystems OfficeSuite 7.25 was just released. This version is compatible with the Explorer v2.60.
Added application category "All"
External tools dialog: Added the possibility to select user-selected tool.
Out of the standard tools only those are listed that are installed.
Smart history: Remembers only folders where non-trivial activity was performed.
Titlebar reorganized to better fit the launcher view. Toolbar icon replaced by a small triangle in the bottom right corner.
Repligo:
Needs v 2.1.4 available from http://www.cerience.com/viewers/pc.php and from http://www.repligo.com
Context menu of each document item lists the link to the original item.
Document folders Info dialog allows to specify a query. (NOT WORKING YET - ONLY DEMO.)
RAM documents are limited to supported types, whereas card docs can be specified as
the folder and list of types.
Contains more launcher-oriented features.
Typical combo-box of the application categories contains additionally document categories. (1st level folders only.)
Treo users can use shift+left/right to swap the categories.
Associations-related menu options were moved to the "Manage Associations" dialog.
'Restore on each Reset' checkbox in this dialog allows the automatic restore of associations after
each reset/Hotsync.
These are the 2 typical events when associations use to be modified either by OS or 3rd party applications.
(Explorer tries to be the last application that modifies the associations, but this in fact cannot be guaranteed.)
New root folder "Documents" allows creating virtual subfolders that can hold links to files
or databases. By default, subfolders "Documents", "Images" and "Music" are created and populated
with known suitable databases. (Menu option "Refresh" serves for the same purpose.)
To add new item to the documents folder simply copy it using any of the means Explorer offers.
Documents can have can have any subfolder hierarchy creating thus a virtual file system.
New special filter 'Show Documents' is accessible from the RAM context menu. As the name suggests,
it shows known RAM documents.
Explorer right pane can now be presented as an icon list. (Main menu option 'Toggle Icon View'.)
Notice that the icon view may be selected independently for either Documents/Categories
or the remaining folders. May be a bit confusing, but enables to select icons for documents/applications
and technical list for other more technically oriented folders.
General Options allow to select large or small icons.
Name mangling is used less frequently.
Example:
Database "Français" is copied to the card as "Français.pdb", while previous versions would
use "Fran%E7ais.pdb" replacing ç by its hexadecimal code.
Mangling is used only for non-printable characters and characters forbidden in the file names.
Full name mangling is used further on in backup.
Prev/next commands in the DB viewer implemented:
