Barcode scanner interface released

Motorola (Symbol), Intermec and Psion devices supported

Bratislava, Slovakia — February 10, 2012 — Resco, a leading vendor of advanced developer components and tools for mobile devices and powerful mobile business solutions, updates Resco MobileForms Toolkit 2012 with Resco barcode scanner interface — an universal interface that can access barcode scanners of various devices (Motorola, Intermec, Psion).

Ruggedized devices are often being used for logistics or other industries that can make use of barcode scanning. Scanning of barcodes simplifies the work process and it has plenty of advantages:

• Speed — it takes only tenths of a second to scan the barcode
• Accuracy — it is estimated that there is approximately 1 error in 10,000 reads on average
• Data integrity — it can be easily integrated with your IT systems
• Ease of implementation — it takes on average less than 5 minutes to teach a person to scan the barcodes
• Cost effectiveness — saves a lot of time and money

There are several types of devices that can read the barcodes. Motorola, Intermec and Psion are the most popular ones. Developer working on a mobile application needed to develop a separate application for each type of device. With Resco barcode scanner interface that is included in new version of MobileForms Toolkit 2012, the same application will be able to read barcodes in Motorola, Intermec and Psion devices. There is no need to maintain 3 separate projects and rebuild each one of them when any changes are made. With Resco MobileForms Toolkit, the developers will only have one project. Moreover they won’t have to go through SDKs of all manufacturers to figure out the barcode functions.

The interface is provided with the source code, so it can be easily extended to support barcode readers of other producers.
