network path not found...

hello!

i use latest resco explorer on qtec 2020i. i have an active wlan connection with ip 192.168.30.140. i can ping the server on 192.168.30.101.

i have setup the "network settings" with the ip 192.168.30.140. i CAN SEE other computer in "computer neigborhood" - but not the server.

on trying to map a drive with

\\192.168.30.101\media

i wanna connect to the media-share of my server. but i always get the message

"network path not found".

if i try the SAME on my win2k local machine, i have NO TROUBLES to connect.

even the share is password protected (login/passwd), resco explorer should pop-up a password windos,... or am i wrong here?

does resco explorer send ANY user-name to the server on trying to map a drive? maybe here is the problem...

thank you for any information

best regards,
ramses

Resco Explorer uses the WinCE Networking for connecting to the shared network drives. If the login/password is necessary for making the connection, operating system asks for it (and also remembers the password if you will choose "Save the password").

We have experienced problems connecting to the Win2003 server and one of our clients noted that the problem is probably in the missing SMB signing capability on Windows CE (please read the article at http://www.cewindows.net/bugs/pocketpc2002.htm ).

Unfortunately, we have not found the way how to solve the problem on device side, so the only possible solution is turning off the SMB signing on the server (please read the article at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;811497 )

I have the same problem when accessing desktop sharing folder in different subnet.

                    IP               OS
Desktop 192.168.0.125   WinXP Home
PDA       192.168.1.4       PPC2003SE

Resco Explorer 2003 version: v5.14

If I changed PDA's netmask to 255.255.0.0, it can see the desktop. However, it still can't get connected!

This is another problem. You cannot map the drive outside of your LAN.

My be this is the reason why I can't connect (v5.15) my remote server home directory as a network drive while I can access it quietly "mapping" it as an FTP site?

I noted also that if try to use the original win mobile 2003 file explorer to access the same directory the internet connection is automatically activated but the nasty "network path no found or ..." appears.

By the way, using the ftp tecnique with resco, the internet connection must be previously manually activated or an FTP Error "Unknown socket error" is issued and the access fails.

I have a Dell Axim X30, Windows 2003 SE. Resco File Explorer 2003 v5.13 maps and connects to my network drive...no problems. In trying the new program, File Explorer 2005 v5.20, will not connect and when I map the drive...it reads in the computer and share folders, but won't connect and locks up the Axim when I try and highlight a folder. Looks like a bug, so until it is resolved, guess I stay with the older working version.....

I must confirm that this is a bug which appears under certain conditions.
I have already made a patch for it. Please send me an e-mail and I will send it to you.
