Resco’s commitment to support mobile controls in relation to Microsoft future plans with Enterprise Handheld Devices
Bratislava, Slovakia — June 29, 2010 — Resco, a leading vendor of advanced developer components and tools for mobile devices, announces today their future plans with Resco MobileForms Toolkit and support for new technologies.
Microsoft outlined commitment to the future of Enterprise Handheld Devices last week. Steve Ballmer, CEO Microsoft, announced that Microsoft will make key investments in the enterprise handheld device market. Part of this plan is a creation of a new brand—Windows Embedded Handheld.
As explained further in the Microsoft’s news, there will be two groups focused on mobility: one for the enterprise handheld devices industry (WEB), and one committed to the mobile phone needs of customers for all types of end users (MCB). Within the WEB group, there will be Windows Embedded Handheld line and Windows Embedded Compact. The first one is based on Windows Mobile 6.5 platform and will be released later this year. It gives a guaranty that the enterprise investments into current mobile technology will be protected. Furthermore, Microsoft announced that Windows Embedded will continue to support developer tools used in building applications and experiences on today’s devices, including Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 and Windows Forms.
The latter—Windows Embedded Compact—based on Windows 7 technologies shall come in second half of 2011. Backed with Microsoft Silverlight and Microsoft XNA technologies it will offer enhanced features and functionality plus rich user interface.
In connection to the latest news, Resco makes public commitment to support the widely used set of mobile controls—Resco MobileForms Toolkit in connection with the upcoming new WEB platforms.
“We will support the new versions of Windows Embedded Handheld platform with Resco MobileForms Toolkit”, said Ivan Stano, Resco Marketing. “As Microsoft will release new versions, we will keep the toolkit updated and provide our customers with the adequate technology upgrades.”
Besides supporting Windows Embedded Handheld, Resco plans to support the new technologies, such as Silverlight and WPF. The first release of mobile controls supporting Windows Phone 7 is scheduled for Q4 2010.
