First contact
IDGuard comes with predefined sample contents.
Main application screen presents the records as icons or as a list.
The combo-boxes allow the selection by a category or by a record template. Incremental search box (bottom) works similarly to the Treo Phone application.
-
Main screen
Select preferred view.
Apart from above alternatives you can select a tree-view or Explorer-like style with horizontal or vertical splitter.
-
Templates
Although you can work with free-text records (like memos), most users will prefer structured information, i.e. the templates.
You can select from predefined templates or create your own ones.
-
Categories
Each record can be assigned a category. Unassigned records are listed under the category Unfiled.
You can create any number of categories or even define category hierarchies.
If you don't like the idea of categories, then ignore this feature, i.e. use the virtual category All.
-
Records, Attachments
Records can have notes or file attachments. You can use built-in camera to attach a photo.
Attachments can be exported (Save... option) or opened in the associated editor (a viewer, Office editor etc.).
IDGuard offers special editors for the date, address, phone number and password.
-
Data Export
You can export selected records as html (nicely formatted) or as xml/csv (suitable for machine processing).
Besides, individual records can be sent via e-mail, SMS etc.
-
Data Sources
You can work with several databases, each protected by its own password.
The data can be backed up and restored similarly to a standard backup program. Moreover, backup sets present a convenient way for the data sharing.
-
Safety
The data is protected by a password. Note the graphical bar showing the password strength. (You should never use your initials as shown in the picture.
Specified period of inactivity causes an application lock, which can be removed only by entering the password again.
